Neighbourhood House Week
What is Neighbourhood House Week?
Neighbourhood House Week (NHW) is an annual celebration in British Columbia, occurring within the first two weeks in May, that recognizes the vital role of neighbourhood houses in fostering inclusive and connected communities.
Neighbourhood House Week 2026
May 3rd – 9th
Welcome to Our Community.
Welcome to Your Neighbourhood House.
Every neighbourhood is built on connection. Whether youโre new to the area, opening up shop, raising a family, or simply looking to feel more at home, neighbourhood houses are part of the local network that helps communities thrive.
We are vibrant, nonprofit spaces where people can connect, grow, learn, and access essential programs and services. Each neighbourhood house is a welcoming โcommunity living roomโ โ a place where people of all ages, from newborns to seniors, can find support, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging.
By bringing neighbours together and strengthening local connections, neighbourhood houses help build stable, caring communities where everyone can flourish.
Neighbourhood House Week takes place May 3โ9, and itโs a time to celebrate these connections and open our doors a little wider. We invite community members, neighbours, and local businesses alike to drop by, say hello, and get to know their local neighbourhood house.
Weโll be sharing more details and events soon โ check back for updates and come visit us during Neighbourhood House Week!

Neighbourhood House Day
Each year, Neighbourhood House Week is celebrated in different ways โ sometimes through one large, shared event, and other times through a series of smaller gatherings across participating houses, with both ANHBC and independent neighbourhood houses coming together in celebration. When we all come together for one big event, we call this Neighbourhood House Day!
