Governance that grows community.

Our Board of Directors

At ANHBC, we believe in collaboration, belonging, and building strong communities together. Our Board of Directors plays a vital role in ensuring our mission and vision are carried out, providing governance, policy oversight, and strategic leadership.

Our board is uniquely made up of community representatives from each neighbourhood house and camp, alongside directors-at-large from the broader communities we serve. Working together with our leadership team, board directors help shape programs, guide organizational direction, and uphold the values that make ANHBC a place where everyone can grow, contribute, and belong.

What makes being a Board Member at ANHBC different?

As a board director, you grow your leadership skills and build your professional network. At ANHBC you gain hands-on experience in governance, strategy and stewardship, while connecting with peers, community leaders and influential professionals across ANHBC.

At ANHBC we work with an asset based community development approach, and as a director you have an opportunity to share your talents, skills and experience within our large non-profit organization, while at the same time learning from your peers on the Board.

As a board director, you influence organizational direction, impact your community, and shape the Neighbourhood House Movement and wider non-profit sector.

Board Recruitment 2026

Board recruitment happens annually

As a new member of the Board of Directors, you will join a skilled and hardworking team of 17 directors that follow a policy-based style of governance. The ANHBC Board leads and supports a variety of committees and directors are expected to sit on at least one, but preferably two committees. The Board meets every second month with a break over the summer. Meetings are typically held on the first Tuesday of the month from 5:30-8:00pm. Two Board retreats are held annually.
